Bar and bat mitzvahs

A milestone for the family. A night the kids will talk about for years.

Lisa Ivler plans bar and bat mitzvahs across New Jersey and New York, from the service to the last dance. This is where she is most hands-on creatively, leading the design of the whole room.

Creative direction

One idea, carried through everything the guests see.

Your graphic designer creates the phrase and the logo. Lisa carries them through the room.

The color palette, the decor, the lounges, the signage, the rentals and the linens, the photo booth and its backdrop: Lisa leads the visual direction for all of it and coordinates the people who build it. Decisions stay yours, and she brings you choices already checked against the room, the budget and the timeline.

The planning runs on the same roadmap as a wedding: venue, entertainment and photography first, then the second wave of design and decor, with milestone reviews along the way and a timeline written by Lisa for the final month.

Two generations, one party

Built for the teens. Comfortable for the adults.

Lisa works with the entertainment team on an interactive, high-energy night for the kids while giving the adults a well-paced celebration of their own, with somewhere to sit, something to eat and a reason to stay on the floor. The service and the party are planned as one weekend, not two events.

This is the second time I’ve hired Lisa to help plan a bar mitzvah, and she did a beautiful job. Everything was buttoned up and went perfectly. She thinks of every detail and truly advocates for her clients when it comes to negotiating with vendors.

Questions parents ask

How involved is Lisa in the design?

Very. For mitzvahs Lisa leads the creative direction for the whole room: the color palette, decor, lounges, signage, rentals, linens and the photo booth and backdrop. The graphic designer creates the theme phrase and logo, and Lisa carries it through everything guests see.

Do you plan mitzvahs in Manhattan and Brooklyn?

Yes. Lisa has planned bar and bat mitzvahs at the Edison Ballroom in Times Square, Lavan in Chelsea, the Conrad New York Downtown, the Moxy Williamsburg and Carroll Hall in Brooklyn, along with venues across New Jersey, Westchester and Connecticut.

How do you plan a party that works for kids and adults?

With every generation in mind. Lisa works with the entertainment team on an interactive, high-energy night for the teens while giving adults a comfortable, well-paced celebration, and she keeps the service and the party connected.

When should we start?

A year out is comfortable: the venue, the entertainment and the photographer go first and the best ones book early. Lisa also offers month-of coordination for families who have planned the party and want the final six weeks handled properly.
